What’s In Store? May 2021
Wedding season is rapidly approaching and a trunk show is the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself and gain inspiration for your own bridal moment.
Here are our top picks of the gowns to look out for in this month’s featured designer events.
Savannah Miller
Trunk Show: No.37 South Kensington | 1-9 May
You can always rely on Savannah Miller to bring understated glamour in abundance and the Idra gown is no exception. This Italian silk crepe gown brings a simple fit and flare with a full train with two princess seams running down the full-length of the front of the bodice. This creates a statuesque and elegant silhouette.
The design is brought straight back to the 21st century through two plisse chiffon fan sleeves, that are finished off with a delicate pearl trim. Providing both a romantic point of interest and a contemporary twist on the puff sleeve.
Rue De Seine
Archer is a bohemian beauty that makes us want to twirl under the golden hour sunset and then twirl some more.
>A bold and romantic take on bridal, this full A-line gown is given a free-spirited makeover with the addition of a front cutout and an open, key-hole back. Two thigh high front splits allow for movement and complete the transformation.
The gown is covered in an opulent, oversized blush paisley print with just enough ivory to provide a nod to traditional bridal and finished off with drop-bead detailing, which follows the curves of the female form effortlessly.
Yolan Cris
The Kate look presents modern bridal, oozing cosmopolitan sass with an ethereal finish. A whimsical texture pleated tulle, simple shift gown with a deep v neckline and plunging back v detail is transformed by a jacket inspired by the Christian Dior 1947 New Look.
The jacket cinches in at the waist gorgeously with a buckle belt detail and shoulder cutout. This contemporary look is finished off with a shorter underskirt, perfect for showcasing the all important bridal pump, without forgetting the traditional bridal silhouette.
J Andreatta
Who says that a silk slip is reserved strictly for the wedding night…not us!
This effortless silk Whiteley gown revamps the sleeved look with a relaxed off the shoulder aesthetic, completed with a slim fit sleeve and coupled with a button detail. Button loops complete the neckline – reminiscent of the scalloped edging of eyelash lace. The button detail is quintessentially bridal and it is made centre of attention on this gown, cascading down the edge of the long thigh high split and extending up to the waistband.
Muse By Berta
Layers of tulle petticoat come together to create a dreamy ballerina length skirt, first popularised in the ‘50s. Much like their muse, this gown is ideal for evenings on the dance floor into the early hours with your bridal party. This angelic skirt is coupled with a dainty bodice featuring a thick vest shape in a nude ivory tulle and to the nape cutout neckline. The gown is embellished with applique in an ivy motif and splatter of sparkle to provide a botanical finish.
Berta Privee
Berta is synonymous with creating memorable showstoppers, guaranteed to wow your guests on your big day.
This barely there beauty is traditional in silhouette; a fishtail style with a tulle kick and exaggerated train created by a gathering of tulle on the back of the gown only, so as not to disrupt the simplicity of the silhouette from the front. This is coupled with a sweetheart neckline and spaghetti strap. Yet, this bucks the usual trend of ivory with a speckled nude base and ivory lace detailing.
A certain head turner, which will leave your guests unable to resist a second glance. The lace applique encases the bodice, falling just shy of the top of the bust edge, adding a soft, romantic finish. Before rippling down the full length of the gown mirroring the line of the outer side of the leg.
Milla Nova
The power of a polkadot…
Milla Nova have shot it out of this park with this strappy corset and figure hugging design. A stand out aesthetic with clear nods to traditional bridal while also kicking things up a notch with the polka pattern.
Oh, and we can’t forget the sparkle. This one shines bright!
