Chic Berkshire Wedding In Atelier Pronovias Gown
❤️ The TWC Effect – Our brides, their way ❤️
Corinne and Jamie have spent the best part of a decade lurrrved up and boy does it show! The duo tied the knot after a super cute lockdown engagement, here we get to hear all the gorgeous details…
How did you meet?
We met via a mutual friend 8 years ago and have been together ever since.
Was it love at first sight?
Jamie was persistent in asking me out for a date but I was studying for my first year exams at university so kept declining until they were completed. He thought that I was making up excuses not to meet up but he now knows how studious I am and that it was in fact the truth! When we finally went on our first date we both knew that we wanted to see each other again and the rest as they say is history – so I would say yes!
Who proposed and how? Lovely details, please!
Jamie proposed a week or so before my birthday on a walk that we did along the river a lot during lockdown so I had no suspicions when he suggested we go for a “walk”. Little did I know that he was going to propose!
He suggested that we have a pit-stop on a bench in front of a lake and got down on one knee. Our family and close friends already knew he had brought a ring but I was totally surprised! He proposed with an oval diamond ring with a hidden halo and diamonds flanking the band – it was beautiful and I could not stop crying.
Did you have a theme for your wedding? How did it come about?
We initially wanted to get married in France but we got engaged in October 2020 and wanted a fairly short engagement period, so with all the uncertainty going on we decided to keep things a bit more local and keep things easier for guests too.
I wouldn’t say we had a theme as such but wanted the wedding to feel European/French with a classical feel but modern touches. We went to Bergerac a few years ago and completely fell in love with the area/feel and wanted to replicate that somehow.
Location and how you found it?
We got married at Wasing Park Estate which is close to our home in Berkshire. Being Christians, we were always going to have a church wedding as our faith and being married in front of God was important; but we also wanted to find something that was quiet, exclusive and could cater for all of our requests and Wasing did just that!
We got married at St Nicholas Church which was on site, our reception was at Wasing and there was accommodation for our guest on the grounds too so everyone could turn up, stay for 24 hours and not worry about moving around etc. The venue did have a recommended supplier list and their own decorations but we effectively treated it as a dry hire, hiring cutlery, glassware, table clothes, napkins and all decorations.
How did you find The Wedding Club? Tell us about that moment when you found and chose your dress – how did it make you feel when you put it on for the first time?
I knew what designers I had in mind and what style of dresses I wanted to look at so I went to the designers websites and checked where they were stocked – TWC! I saw my dress as soon as I walked in, before I had even tried it on, I knew and so did my Mum! I would say I tried on about 15 dresses in total but deep down knew I had “found the one”. I called the store the next day and ordered it.
Which designer did you wear?
My dress was Atelier Pronovias and I had a custom french tulle veil and over skirt made by Sarah Murphy at Bellanude – she was amazing and understood my vision.
I loved my dress so much and didn’t want to change out of it for the evening reception so being able to take the skirt and veil off for the evening and felt like I had two dresses!
Where is the suit from? Why was it the perfect fit?
Jamie is very much into fashion and has his own distinct style so it was a fairly easy choice for him. He went with a custom Paul Smith suit and Crockett and Jones shoes. I actually didn’t see his outfit until I walked down the aisle but knew he would look handsome so trusted his choice fully.
Did you have speeches? Who performed them?
We had three speeches, the best man, my Mum and Jamie. My Mum actually did a short presentation with videos and pictures about me throughout the years. It was very emotional.
Did you have a first dance? What song did you choose and why? How was the performance?
Jamie and I are big dancers so we knew we wanted something upbeat. Jamie loves Reggae music so we went with “Stay By My side” by the Young Israelites. It was such a great choice as everyone could have a dance too and the live band we had joined in towards the end!
How was the party?
So great! As mentioned earlier we love to dance and entertain so we had a string quartet during the ceremony and canapé time which played both classical and modern renditions of music. For the evening we had an eight-piece band with brass instruments who played two sets of 70s and 80s disco music and a DJ that played into the early hours of the night. Everyone was on the dance floor. It was such fun!
Wedding planning advice for brides to be?
Practically, get a joint email address that both of you have access to so you can keep track of things. Jamie and I both have very full on busy jobs – and started new jobs four months before we got married (typical!), so it was great that one of us could respond if the other was busy. Another thing is to make sure the day really is about the two of you- don’t be side tracked by trends, things you have seen at other weddings or social media, stay true to yourselves.
One moment you’ll never forget:
My Mum walked me down the aisle which was so special and such an important moment for me. Our entrance into our reception was also so fun, we had music blaring and everyone was up standing, whooping and dancing as Jamie and I danced in together.
