Classically Cool New York Wedding In Marchesa Notte Gown
❤️ The TWC Effect – Our brides, their way ❤️
A transatlantic love story – Alexandra and Richard’s New York wedding looks as romantic as it sounds, read on for all the lovely deets!
How did you meet?
Brinkley’s Bar in Chelsea
Was it love at first sight?
On my end no. Truthfully, we were friends at first and he became ill with cancer about 2 months after becoming friends. It was during his illness etc that I realised 7 months after meeting, that I loved him. Our newfound love and support we are both convinced got him well and now happily still in remission 6 years later.
Who proposed and how?
Richard proposed at Nuovo Sapori on New Kings Road, a very simple, italian restaurant we like and often go to. I, apparently, was being very difficult leading up to him proposing and when he finally was able to do it, it was at dinner on the 20 August 2021.
He asked me if I was sure I was happy with him, which I immediately thought was strange to ask, and when I said yes he brought out the box. He said every day he strives to make me happy and when I am happy he is happy. He said there is no one like me and how much he loves me and then asked. He is honestly the best man there is- I am so lucky. I really feel so grateful for him.
Did you have a theme for your wedding?
It was black tie (evening gowns and tuxedos only- super strict with dress code). Very elegant, classic, and regal.
Location and how you found it?
Photos were taken at the New York Public Library and the party was at The Rooftop at The Bryant Park Grill in New York City. I am from New York and absolutely love the New York Public Library and Bryant Park and I truly wanted an ultimate New York wedding in Manhattan with all the glitz and glamour. It was very Carrie and Big from Sex and City.
How did you find The Wedding Club? Tell us about that moment when you found and chose your dress – how did it make you feel when you put it on for the first time?
I honestly found The Wedding Club through word of mouth. My dress was the second one I tried on. As soon as I stood in front of the mirror at your South Kensington Location, I cried. That is EXACTLY when I knew and I looked no further. It made me feel classic, romantic, beautiful, soft and literally like a dream bride. And believe me I never thought I had the bridal gene and that dress changed my mind instantly.
Which designer did you wear?
Marchesa Notte
Where is the suit from? Why was it the perfect fit?
Richard wore a tuxedo from Hugo Boss and shoes by Brunello Cucinelli – classic fit.
Did you have speeches? Who performed them?
Richard, his best man, and my two matrons of honour gave speeches.
Did you have a first dance? What song did you choose and why? How was the performance?
We chose “Simply The Best” by Tina Turner as our first dance. We wanted something upbeat, fun, that would not only be very “us” but also engage our friends and family as we invited them to join us about a minute into it.
How was the party?
It was truly a New York Moment, honestly something out of a movie- Fantastic, amazing, awe striking, fun, beautiful, full of so much love and happiness- all surrounded by Manhattan buildings and skyline.
Wedding planning advice for brides to be?
Be organised, plan ahead, and on the morning of your wedding take some time for you alone to really breathe and take it all in – trust me it is a great thing to do.
One moment you’ll never forget:
The look on Richard’s face when he saw me and that moment we both walked into Bryant Park Grill together and saw it decorated for the first time- we were bursting with love, happiness, joy.
