Fun & Fabulous Colombian Wedding In Hera Gown

Catalina and Jamie our Colombian bride and Irish groom fell in love at first sight. The pair have boogied their way all the way down the aisle together and today we are lucky enough to hear all about their gorgeous big day…
How did you meet?
We met in London at Dean Street Town House, bonding over Columbia coffee and chocolate!
Was it love at first sight?
Definitely, we started dating right away and we got engaged 10 months after!
Who proposed and how? Lovely details, please!
Jamie proposed last Christmas Eve! We travelled to Colombia and it was the first time he was meeting my parents. I was not expecting him to propose just yet as I thought he would need to meet my family and see how things go first.
It turns out that he had it all planned and already had the ring. He asked my dad for permission and then on Christmas Eve – we celebrate Christmas on Christmas eve rather than Christmas day – we were all together celebrating and at the moment of Secret Santa he got down on one knee! It was the most beautiful surprise, my family is everything to me so to have them there in such an important moment was just magical.
Did you have a theme for your wedding? How did it come about?
It was not a theme but we wanted to bring our two cultures together – during Jamie’s speech he asked everyone to “Dance like the Colombians and Drink like the English and Irish”! We had a combination of salsa dancing, disco music and personalised cocktails that made an amazing vibe.
Location and how you found it?
It was in Cali Colombia, a place called Hacienda Las Mañanitas that feels like you are in the jungle surrounded by nature! Our wedding planner found it.
How did you find The Wedding Club? Tell us about that moment when you found and chose your dress – how did it make you feel when you put it on for the first time?
I had some dresses in mind that I initially booked to try on at The Wedding Club but they were not available within my timings so I booked a second appointment for the South Kensington store where Jordan recommended some Hera Couture dresses that were in to me. I tried on a few and the last one was the one I chose. When I tried it on I was like OMG! This is sooo me!

Hera Couture from the Royal Rebel Collection.
Did you have speeches? Who performed them?
My Dad and Jamie gave speeches.
Did you have a first dance? What song did you choose and why? How was the performance?
It was free-style we didn’t practise but it turned out so well!! We danced to “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Elvis Presley.
How was the party?
So much fun! We had a salsa dancing show which was amazing for our guests to experience.
Wedding planning advice for brides to be?
I know how stressful it is before the wedding, but on the day just let everything go and let the day cast the magic spell over you! Take some moments of admiration to pause with your husband to watch everyone around you.
